about counter codex
counter codex was created by Jordan and Vincent Rutter-Covatto to reclaim queer narratives in classical music. counter codex projects combine opera, performance art, and experimental theatre to break down the barriers between the fine arts and the stories of the queer community today.
counter codex’s first project ERATO: baroque fetish fantasia premiered in 2023 at the Tank’s PrideFest and was featured as a part of Folsom Street East’s New York Fetish Weekend. In 2024, POLYMATH: La comédie de la mort and RITUAL: Schwarze Messe Kabarett premiered at the cell theatre in Chelsea.
counter codex projects are community driven and are bespoke to the times that we live in and the experiences we share.
